CURCHOREM: Rucha Subhash Vasta from Khandiwada of Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) was elected unopposed as the vice chairperson during the meeting held, on Friday.
According to Returning Officer and Director of Settlement and Land Records Johnson Fernandes two councillors Aparna Vithoba Prabhudessai from Sasnamoddi Ward and Rucha Subhash Vasta filed their nomination papers for the post.
“Papers of both the candidates were valid but during the 15 minutes period given to them before voting Prabhudessai withdrew her nomination and since only Vasta remained in the fray, she was declared elected unopposed as vice chairman of the CCMC,” said Fernandes.
The nine councillors were present while the six councillors remained absent for the meeting.
According to sources, the date to elect the chairperson has not been fixed yet by the Director of Municipal Administration (DMA) and it could be held by end of April.
