MARGAO: A delegation of 150-200 miners of Vedanta Codli mines met Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar over their job security at Quepem on Thursday.
The Vedanta has reportedly told the workers that the file regarding their employment pending at the Labour Department is not cleared, their services would be terminated.
The issue was of termination of services of 300 employees if e-auctioned iron ore is not allowed to be transported to Codli Plant for upgradation of low grade ore. The deadline given to the workers is November 18.
At the meeting, Kavlekar reportedly spoke to Revenue Minister Jennifer Monseratte over the phone and later assured that the workers that the pending issues will be resolved as soon as possible without affecting the employment of the 300 workers.
