Vegetable vendors continue daring accident prone Bythokhol-Borim Circle

PONDA: The vendors sit at roadside around Bythokhol-Borim Circle, despite knowing it’s an accident prone spot.
On Tuesday a Mumbai- Margao bus was overturned while negotiating the circle exactly where the vegetable vendors conduct business. They luckily escaped as at the time of accident they had left for lunch.
Reportedly, the bus carrying five passengers had fallen on the side where the vendors sell their vegetables. Two of the passengers were injured while vegetable vendors had a lucky escape.
It was expected they would avoid the spot further but dare the same spot to earn their livelihood.
Borim Panchayat submitted resolution to PWD-NH at its office at Ponda for reducing the size of two traffic circles at Borim–one at Bythokhol and another at Borim bridge to avoid fatal accidents.
Locals have been demanding to reduce size of circles for a decade now as it become difficult to negotiate them for heavy vehicles.
According to locals, the two traffic circles located near Borim Bridge and another at Bythokhol on Margao – Ponda highway are accident prone for the vehicles coming from Margao as they ought to take turn around the roundabout.  The roads being narrow the heavy vehicles find it very difficult to cover the small stretch.
