Vehicles collision claims one life in Poinguinim

One person died while another was seriously injured, when two Karnataka-registered vehicles collided with each other at Welwada-Poinguinim on Friday night.
According to Canacona police, Vinayak Devidas Kamat (45) from Haldipur-Honnavar was driving the Maruti Omni car (KA-19-W-3609) towards Karwar, when the car collided with an oncoming truck (KA-17-A-1620) at about 9.30 pm.
The impact of the accident was so horrendous that the Kamat was crushed inside the Maruti van.
The other occupant in the van, Supraye Kamat (65) also from Honnavar, was seriously injured and was rushed to the GMC hospital at Bambolim.
The truck driver, Asghar Ali of Hariyar in Davangere-Karnataka, escaped unhurt in the mishap. Canacona PI Suraj Halarnkar is supervising investigations in the case.
