Velguem panch rues lack of support for dairy farmers

MAYEM: Velguem Panch Dinesh Sahastrabuddhe has accused the State government of meting out step-brotherly treatment against day-to-day development affairs of Velguem panchayat area.
“Farmers engaged in milk production are facing acute hardship, as they do not get timely medicines for their cattle due to lack of stock or lack of services and also there is unavailability of a veterinary doctor at the animal husbandry office at Surla and Usgao where the farmers from Velguem go very often,” stated Sahastrabuddhe.
“This situation has resulted in death of sick cattle on many occasions. The required medicines are also not available on many occasions, due to which doctor cannot treat the cattle,” he said and accused the government for simply making tall claims as far as promotion of cattle feeding business in Goa is concerned. He has asked the government authorities to provide medicines and make available veterinary doctors.
He has also accused the government of not providing funds under GIA scheme to Velguem panchayat despite sending the file concerned a year ago.
Talking about GIA scheme, he clarified that the government had assured to sanction fund of Rs 5 lakh to the panchayat to undertake development activities like roads, gutters and footpaths under the scheme.
He also accused the government for not sanctioning about 70 files of Sulabh Shouchalaya when tall claims about sanitation are being made nationwide. He has demanded that the State government should provide necessary basic amenities for the smooth functioning of Velguem panchayat area.
