MARGAO: The hearing into the Velim Church attack case was adjourned to October 24 as the judge was absent.
It may be recalled that earlier in this month, arguments on the maintenance of the Velim church assault case under section 307 were heard in the court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class and the hearing on the order was kept on Monday.
The arguments on how the section 307 is not applicable in the case were heard.
The Public Prosecutor had argued on the jurisdiction of the JMFC to hear cases of section 307 and had called it a ‘political’ case.
The Cuncolim Police had in 2015 charge sheeted 22 accused under Sections 307, 143, 144, 147, 148, 186, 323, 324, 326, 332, 333, 341, 342, 353 read with Section 149 IPC in the church attack case.
