MARGAO, FEB 9 – The Managing committee of St Xavier Church, Velim has asked the Election Commission of India to look into the raid on the Parish priest, even as it termed as false the statement made by Jt CEO Narayan Navti that the officials have found and seized an amount of Rs 6000 from the Church.
The Church Committee asserted that no amount was seized and challenged Navti to produce the Panchanama/challan of the seizure, while terming Navti’s statement as irresponsible by an officer of his stature.
The committee demanded to know whether the people can expect a smooth election process with such irresponsible officer at the helm of affairs, adding that the statement made to a section of the press has further aggravated the fluid situation in Velim.
