MARGAO: All eyes are focussed on the special gram sabha meeting of Velim village convened on Sunday to discuss the controversial issue of minor fishing harbour at the Cutbona fishing jetty, even as the Cutbona Boat Owners on Saturday told the panchayat body that they are only interested in the expansion of the fishing jetty, a break water facility at the river mouth, besides sanitation for workers.
At a general body meeting of the Cutbona Boat Owners Union held at the fishing jetty, boat owners discussed the opposition brewing amongst the villagers to the minor fishing harbour project at Cutbona. After the meeting, Union President Cypriano Cardozo said the boat owners have written a letter to the panchayat body stating that they only want the extension of the fishing jetty by 226 meters, a retaining wall at the river Sal mouth and toilets for workers.
