MARGAO: A 63-year-old Natalino Coutinho from Velim succumbed to injuries early this morning following an accident at Sirlim yesterday evening at around 8.15 pm.
Natalino who was proceeding to Velim with his family members apparently was crossing the road to purchase bread from a bakery on the other side of the road. However, as he saw a vehicle approaching fast to proceed towards Margao, he stepped back and in that dashed against another vehicle that was coming from Margao.
He was rushed to Hospicio in a private vehicle from where he was shifted to GMC hospital Bambolim where he breathed his last at around 3.15 on Tuesday.
This is reportedly the 39th accident at that spot and the villagers have arranged a protest meet at the site on Wednesday evening.
where the local MLA and Sarpanch has been asked to be present to discuss how to prevent accidents in future.
