MARGAO: Activists of various banners on Thursday met Velim MLA Filipe Neri Rodrigues to seek his version on the State-wide agitation against coal and double tracking projects.
The activists asked the MLA to resign as minister if the government is not listening to the people.
The MLA gave a patient hearing to the activists while maintaining that he is with the people in their opposition to the three projects.
Sarzora Panchayat Sarpanch Sabita Mascarenhas with several people of Velim, Chinchinim met the BJP MLA.
They said that the government is not in a mood to listen to the people’s opposition to the projects that are allegedly against the good of the people of Goa.
“Two of the three railway crossings facing opposition for laying second track are in your constituency and the people are keen to know what the MLA of Velim has to say regarding the apprehensions of his people,” she said.
Rodrigues to this said, “I am with the people in their demands. As MLA of the ruling government I have spoken out my opposition to the Chief Minister. I will again meet the Chief Minister to discuss regarding the clarification given by the Chief Minister to the people.”
“By extending support to you and saying I too oppose the projects I will have to see what effect it makes on the government decision,” said Rodrigues to which the people asked him that he should resign as minister.
