MARGAO: Cyril Bonifus Pereira, a resident of Mumbai and a native of Velim, has written to Arvind Kejriwal claiming that Cruz Silva, the AAP candidate for Velim, has cheated him over a transaction of residential flat purchase.
The complainant has also alleged that Cruz Silva is in contempt of Consumer Rights Forum ordering him to deposit the compensation to the Pereira family which he has not deposited. Pereira has asked the AAP to sack Cruz Silva and from the party.
According to Pereira, in 2006, he had purchased a flat from Cruz Silva and had paid him the entire consideration, but till today no sale deed has been executed, no electricity and water connection has been released in their name.
The family was forced to file a complaint before the Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum, South Goa at Margao and an order has been passed directing Cruz Silva to execute the deed of sale in favour of Pereira and has also been also directed to pay a sum of Rs. 1,00,000 as compensation for mental agony suffered by Pereira within 30 days from the date of receipt of the said order, with 9% penal interest for breaching date.
Reacting to the complaint, Cruz Silva said that the complaint is politically motivated.
“I have filed a case against the owner of the property for not having executed the sale deed with the flat owners to help these people. This is a fight between the owner of the property and the owners of the flats. I am only the developer of the property. I am being politically unnecessarily falsely dragged into the controversy to malign my image,” Cruz said. He also said that he has filed an appealed and got a stay on the fine of Rs 1 lakh that he was ordered to pay.
