Velim to be developed as model village under Central Govt scheme

MARGAO: Velim village will be developed as a model village under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana’, said Goa Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar. 

Addressing reporters at Margao on Friday, he said work on the project will commence very soon. 

“The first step to transforming Velim has begun and our aim is to make this village a model village,” said Tendulkar.  

BJP spokesperson Savio Rodrigues said that the aim is to make Velim a model village where sustainability will blend with modernity to focus on empowerment through education, entrepreneurship and employment while protecting the environment.  

“We will also create an ecosystem around sports for the people of Velim. I am thankful to Prime Minister Modi, Vinay Tendulkar and the Goa government for their continuous support,” he stated.  

Rodrigues said that the second aspect of  Velim’s facelift will be a seed ball project, and the process of making the seed balls has already begun in the village.  “Initiatives will be taken to make eco-friendly pencils and papers. Under the model village scheme we are working to bring a concept called ‘first in class’, pertaining to education,” added Rodrigues.
