Velim to expand panchayat hall

MARGAO: Gram Sabha Members of Velim panchyat resolved to extend the existing panchayat hall at estimated cost of Rs 14.70 lakh. Sarpanch Melvin Sanches, who chaired the Sunday gram sabha informed that Golden Jubilee amount of Rs 10 lakh along with panchayat fund of Rs 4.70 lakh will be spent on the work.

MARGAO: Gram Sabha Members of Velim panchyat resolved to extend the existing panchayat hall at estimated cost of Rs 14.70 lakh. Sarpanch Melvin Sanches, who chaired the Sunday gram sabha informed that Golden Jubilee amount of Rs 10 lakh along with panchayat fund of Rs 4.70 lakh will be spent on the work.
Resolution also was taken to take up various works with panchayat fund amounting Rs 36 lakh. The works to be taken by the panchayat include erection of bus stops, constructions of drains, cleaning of wells, repairs of existing panchayat hall, etc. 
The sarpanch presented before the gram sabha the report prepared by the Captain of Ports in respect of alleged encroachment in river by a hotel at Rangalli, Velim. It may be recalled that gram sabha members had alleged encroachment by a hotel on the river. However, according to the report the hotel has only been using a part of ramp admeasuring 4 mts x 4 mts. The gram sabha members were also informed by the sarpanch that he has also verified the number of rooms built by the hotel. He, however, stated that the actual plan sketch submitted and approved would be verified and that the information would be communicated at next gram sabha. 
Gram sabha Members congratulated the panchayat for being named as one of the best panchayats in South Goa for the current year.
