PANJIM: Former Goa RSS chief Subash Velingkar feels that the BJP is putting unnecessary pressure on Chief Minister Parrikar and opined that the Assembly could be dissolved anytime soon.
The former state Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief said that BJP should appoint someone else to lead the government. “I don’t think this Goa government will survive if things go on like this. It will be dissolved soon,” he said pointing out to the threat made by alliance partner Maharashtrawadi Gomatak Party (MGP).
Velingkar further said that the BJP pressure is worsening the CM’s health. “Unfortunately, the BJP high command is putting unnecessary pressure on him, when he clearly needs more rest to be completely fit. The Centre wants Goa to remain a BJP stronghold and hence is forcing him to resume office. This is worsening his health condition,” Velingkar said.
He added, “The Centre should have got a substitute chief minister as long as Parrikar is not getting well.”
Parrikar returned to Goa on October 15, after he was discharged from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi, where he was undergoing treatment for over a month, for a pancreatic ailment.
MGP chief Pandurang (Deepak) Dhavalikar, on Wednesday said the people of Goa are suffering as the State administration had collapsed due to the long absence of the Chief Minister. “Since Parrikar is recuperating at home, he should hand over charge to any of the senior ministers till he recovers,” Dhavalikar had said.

No need of leadership change: Vishwajit
PANJIM: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, who was in the thick of action last week during the induction of two Congress MLAs into the BJP, has ruled out a leadership change in the State for now.
Replying to queries of his name being discussed as a replacement to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Rane said, “There is no such issue. He (Parrikar) is sick and it won’t be right to discuss such issues at this juncture. There is no leadership change required; Parrikar continues to be our CM.”
On the CM’s health affecting the administration, he said, “I do not want to discuss about his health as it is for his family to disclose anything, but yes he is being monitored by GMC doctors. That is what I can say.”
He added, “Miracles do happen.”
