VASCO: Velsao-Pale-Issorcim Gram Sabha on Sunday resolved to reject installation of cyclone alert towers and warned of stern action against those subletting their stalls and handcarts to migrants.
The special gram sabha discussed various issues including the themes suggested by the Directorate of Panchayats. When the issue of illegally sublet of kiosks came up, the panchayat told the villagers that kiosks/stalls and handcarts were allotted to locals for self-employment opportunities and that it had been sublet to outsiders. The meeting demanded that stern action be initiated against those who had sublet their stalls to migrants including cancellation of licence.
Meanwhile, the gram sabha saw a special moment when former panchayat member Roquezinho D’Souza as token of gratitude felicitated all the outgoing panchayat members with mementos for having offered good service to villagers.
