Vendor Meet aims at enhancing business opportunities for local industry

Vasco: The Goa Shipyard Ltd in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Goa organised a one-day Vendor Meet aimed at enhancing business opportunities for local industry of Goa. 

The programme also facilitated the local Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and vendors to register onboard the government E-Portal and also register as a vendor in the GSL vendor base.  

In a press release, the GSL mentioned that the seminar also created awareness about GSLs requirement of products and services for shipbuilding and general engineering and encouraged entrepreneurs for participation in GSL tenders. 

The programme saw an overwhelming response from entrepreneurs and MSMEs from in and around Goa. The function was attended by Swetika Sachan, director, Industries, Trade and Commerce, Government of Goa, Cmde B B Nagpal, chairman and managing director, GSL; Cmde BK Munjal, advisor GeM and Atul Jadhav, chairman, CII Goa State Council.

 Speaking during the inaugural session, Cmde Nagpal, CMD GSL emphasised the need for the local Goan Industry and MSMEs to actively participate in GSL’s shipbuilding programme and indicated that the yard has a considerable order book to execute in the coming years and it is important to have a strong ancillary industry and ecosystem to support its shipbuilding programmes.

He also highlighted the need for all vendors to register on the GeM platform and utilise the portals features and advantages to their benefit. The programme was well organised and appreciated by the participants. 

The session ended with a vote of thanks by M Subraminan, Off. Chief General Manager (Commercial).
