MARGAO: Verbal clashes broke out at Marlem in Borda after locals stopped a work of tarring of an internal road.
Supporters of Vijai Sardessai and Damu Naik exchanged heated arguments over the work being carried out when the election code of conduct is in force. Questioning why it wasn’t done before the code of conduct came into force, some locals complained to the election flying squad.
However, some locals backed the work saying the issue is needlessly politicised. The flying squad asked the contractor to produce the documents of the work which revealed that the work order was issued before the code of conduct came into force.
