In a late twist, sources reveal that the BJP has demanded a
full recount of South Goa. The order for the same is pending before the South
Goa returning officer that is the District Collector.
As per the sources, if indeed a recount takes place, it
would be a randomized selection of EVMs and not of all the EVMs. Sources added
that the first demand for a recount started with the Navelim constituency
Congress workers are
waiting and watching to see how the situation unfolds. They also want to know
if this demand for a recount has come in writing or verbal, following which
they will officially react or oppose this move.
South Goa District Returning Officer has clarified that the
issue of recounting will not be taken up now. Without getting into the rumours
circulating, the Collector said after the counting process is completed, that
is the postal ballots, and the final tally is updated, a formal chance will be
given to all the parties for a recount request. If that happens then, a
decision will be taken at that stage
