VERDICT 2024: Candidates optimistic about their victory (08.30am)

The much-anticipated vote counting for the 18th Lok Sabha Elections commemorated at 8 a.m. on Tuesday across the nation. This election will establish the new Prime Minister for India along with the formation of the new government. 

The 2024 elections in India include the general election for selecting the right candidate to be the new face of India. The major key parties are Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Indian National Congress (INC), All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) and others. Surat Parliamentary seat has been won by the NDA unopposed. Contest is on for the remaining 542 seats. 

The fate of Goa’s 2 Lok Sabha seats will be decided today as the entire Goa and nation are on the edge of their seats for the declaration of the final results. Giving a tough competition, Goa’s two major rival parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the INDIA bloc, will come face-to-face. BJP’s Shripad Naik faces off against Ramakant Khalap of INDIA bloc in North Goa and BJP’s Pallavi Dempo faces off against Capt Viriato Fernandes of INDIA bloc in South Goa. 12 other candidates are also in the fray in Goa. 

BJP’s  North Goa candidate Shripad Naik expressed that he will be victorious in the election. “I am confident that BJP will again win both the Lok Sabha seats in the state” 

In contrast to the BJP’s attitude towards the election Congress North Goa candidate Ramakant Khalap stated, “Victory is already confirmed. We are winning with a very comfortable margin”

Further in the South, Congress South Goa Candiate Capt Viriato Fernandes with full confidence exclaimed the power of the people over the power of money, indicating that this time people of South Goa will definitely be in favour of Congress. 

On the other hand Pallavi Dempo, South Goa BJP candidate said, “I am extremely confident. I will not talk about the lead but i am 100% sure (of my victory)”
