Verla Canca ‘locked’ for 15 days

MAPUSA: The Verla Canca Village Panchayat on Monday imposed a 15-day voluntary lockdown till May 17, with restricted timings for public movement in the village jurisdiction from 6 am to 12 noon.

During this period, only the shops dealing with essential commodities will be allowed to remain open and operate during the given time frame.

Religious ceremonies including marriages will be allowed at religious places subject to permission from the Deputy Collector with not more than 20 people. On-going house repair works will be allowed subject to permission from the local body.

Banks and postal services are allowed to serve the public till 12 noon. Firms/companies/ people dealing with the internet, cable TV, telephones and all other services like electricity, water, LPG to be allowed to operate beyond restricted timing.

Courier services and delivery services will be allowed to operate till 6 pm. Private security services serving the village will be allowed to operate beyond restricted timing. The government, semi –government and private firms employees will be allowed to exit and enter into the village on displaying of identity cards.

Hotels having guests will be allowed to stay till their booking period is over, however no fresh guests will be allowed during the lockdown period. Pre-monsoon works and urgent development works by the government authorities or panchayat will be allowed beyond restricted timing.

Celebrations in any kind in party halls, hotels, banquet halls and gardens will not be allowed.

Vehicles transporting and supplying essential commodities will be allowed inside the village. Restaurant kitchens engaging with home delivery agencies will be allowed to operate until 9 pm.

Strict action will be taken by the panchayat against those violating the lockdown including revocation of permissions/licences.
