MARGAO: A suicide was reported before the Maina Curtorim police early this morning when a 39 year old Remedios Fernandes resident of Sonarwado Verna was found with a knife thrust in his throat at his sister’s house at Verna.
Remedios was an alcoholic who was mentally disturbed for the last three years and once before attempted suicide by trying to jump out of a moving train while returning from Chennai.
He had reportedly come to his sister’s house to help her in turning the tiles of her roof and was not given any alcohol for the last about a week. At around 5 am he woke up his sister who was aghast to see him with a knife thrust in his throat which he did himself. She made him sit and rushed to call her aunt and by the time she returned he was dead.
