Verna man booked for manhandling traffic cop

Verna police booked an offence against a person from Verna for allegedly manhandling a traffic police, attached to the Vasco police, on Wednesday morning.
According to Verna police PI Nalasco Raposo, the accused allegedly manhandled traffic police Ulhas Velip while he was discharging his duty at Verna junction. The accused is reported to be absconding.
PI Raposo said that the incident occurred when the accused was stopped by Velip for traffic violation.
The PI further said that the accused, who was reluctant to pay the fine, abused Velip with filthy language, slapped him and tore his uniform.
Police have attached Maruti Swift car belonging to the accused. The accused has moved an anticipatory bail plea in the court.
Police has registered a case against the accused under Section 332 of IPC and is investigating the case.
