Verna police crack RTI activist attack case

PANJIM: Verna police have solved the recent assault case of RTI activist and businessman Narayan Naik who had been brutally attacked outside Sancoale panchayat on Saturday. 

On Sunday, the police arrested one Ram Gopal Yadav alias Kariya, aged 40 in connection with the assault. Incidentally, Yadav had unsuccessfully contested the last Sancoale panchayat elections. 

As per the sources, Yadav was also the first person to offer Naik help after the assault had taken place and had shifted the victim to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim. The two masked assailants, who had carried out the assault, have also been identified. 

According to sources, Yadav had allegedly hired these two persons to assault Naik over some alleged dispute regarding the panchayat politics.

Yadav was arrested under Section 120 (B) of IPC, (criminal conspiracy).
