VASCO: Velsao-based social activist and a former panch member Velsao Roquozinho D’Souza wrote to the Verna Police Inspector requesting them to do tenant verification in Velsao village.
The activist also asked the police to organise an awareness camp, especially for the non-Goan labourers who work in the village.
D’Souza requested the Verna Police to make the migrants understand how to live in harmony in the village. Speaking to Herald, D’Souza said that the once peaceful village of Velsao is, in recent times, in the news for wrong reasons. Two recent murders have been spoiling the village name, he said.
He said that many non-Goan migrant labourers work on the fishing boats. “Usually they get drunk and then get into fights. I feel police should organise an awareness camp for them to make them understand the importance of living in harmony and to avoid unnecessary fights and quarrels among themselves,” said D’Souza.
