Very few Goans appear for UPSC exams, rues Shripad

TEAM HERALD PORVORIM: Union Tourism Minister Shripad Naik stated that very few Goan students make attempts to appear for civil service examination conducted by UPSC for the posts of IPS, IAS, IRS or IFS.

Naik was speaking at a function organised by Porvorim BJP Mandal to felicitate the meritorious students of Porvorim constituency at Swami Vivekanand hall, Porvorim.
Speaking further, Naik said it is the responsibility of the teachers and parents to create awareness about these exams among the students and encourage them to take up career in civil services.
“Education is the key to success and hence every student should work hard to secure good marks in studies to ascend to a higher economic and social status in life,” said Naik.
Earlier, Porvorim BJP Mandal President Guruprasad Pawasker welcomed the gathering. The students who secured best percentages at SSC and HSSC examinations of Goa Board and also teachers – Sawlo Uskaiker, Arpita Diukar and F D’Souza were felicitated by Naik. Rajkumar Dessai proposed the vote of thanks.
