PANJIM: Veteran journalist and columnist Alfred de Tavares passed away on Sunday in Stockholm, Sweden. He was 70 and of late had been in indifferent health. Tavares hailed from Loutolim and was a well-known figure in journalistic circles in Goa and Sweden.
As fate would have it, he wrote his last piece for his column ‘Saudades’, which appeared in yesterday’s edition of ‘Herald Review’. Though he lived in Stockholm for several decades, he also returned to Goa regularly and maintained his deep roots with his native land.
Tavares is survived by his wife, son and three daughters.
