PANJIM: “We are focusing on music and not on the controversy,” Viacom18, the organizers of VH1 Supersonic Electronic Dance Music festival said.
Jaideep Singh, Sr Vice President and Business Head – INS, Viacom18 in a statement released here said that with the first edition getting underway this year, Goa could soon be on the global music map.
“Despite the relentless allegations being directed towards us and Nikhil Chinappa whose deep knowledge of electronic dance music coupled with his association of more than a decade with Viacom 18 is an asset to the festival team, we chose to remain silent and maintain our stand to deliver an event that focuses on the music and not the controversy,” Singh reiterated.
The State Level Event Permissions Committee has already approved the festival’s organisation at Candolim for five days.
The festival hopes to bring out all that is Goan through dance music. “A fully interactive and captivating music festival looking to restore the magic and essence of Goa from the 1950s and 60s,” was how the company LIVE Viacom18 and M/s Starlight Events & Ent Pvt. Ltd chose to describe it.
DJ Nikhil Chinappa, — who was earlier with Percept, the organizers of Sunburn, since the start has this year teamed up and will be curating the EDM festival. The lineup includes names of several Goan DJs and hosts.
The lineup so far includes artists such as Above & Beyond, Airwave, Albin Myers, Alvaro, Benny Benassi, Booka Shade, BT, Ferry Corsten, Pearl, Edu Imbernon, Ma Faiza, Engine-Earz Experiment, Feenixpawl, Sanjay Dutta, Felix Cartal, Funkagenda, Ash Roy, Hard Rock Sofa, Jerome Isma-ae, John ‘00’ Fleming, Julian Jordan, Max Graham, Norman Doray, Protoculture, Sander Kleinenberg, Tristan, Yousef, Vachan Chinnappa, Nawed Khan, Tuhin Mehta, Ajit Pai, Praveen Achary, Mash, Vijay Chawla, BL@NK, Audiogramme, Audio Units, Helium Project, DJ Chubby, Priyanjana, Fuzz Culture, V-Shall,- the festival will target devoted music lovers who needs aren’t being met in the current local music festival landscape.
The EDM will be hosted by Rohit Barker, Ramona Arena, Nisha Harale and Mackenzie Pereira.
