PANJIM: In a twist to the entire episode leading to the death of a teenager Sai Dhanush Reddy who fell of a casino, the casino management have filed a counter complaint against the Hyderabad brothers – Shivachaitanya Reddy and deceased Sai Dhanush for trespassing into the restricted area of the second level of Casino Carnival despite being stopped by the housekeeping staff, minutes before the unfortunate accident.
The complainant has stated that the brothers had a scuffle before entering the desk and rubbishes allegations that Sai slipped off the floor at the outer deck.
“It was seen from the CCTV recordings of the restaurant and the deck … both brothers had heated discussion while at the table in the restaurant at about 2am on July 14, 2013 after which Sai started walking towards the washroom followed by the brother,” the complaint states.
“…both brothers went towards the door and to the deck which is restricted and no-go area, followed by Armando Dias (housekeeping supervisor),” the complaint states adding that the boys were warned not to enter there but they used criminal force to go towards the railings.
The casino officials have also denied any security lapse claiming the deck has anti-skid flooring area and the railing is 1.1 meter high as per the safety guidelines of Indian Register of Shipping “making it virtually impossible for somebody to slip and fall over…”
After Sai fell into the river, casino officials claimed, a life buoy was immediately thrown in the direction of the distressed teenager, and in a few minutes Shivachaitanya jumped into the waters.
“A casino boat with casino staff immediately rescued him (Shivachaitanya)… it is suspected that a scuffle broke out between the two brothers which is a continuation of the heated argument which took place at the table at the restaurant resulting in both the brothers going to the deck, which in all probability should have caused Sai to jump or be thrown over during the scuffle which amounts to foul play…” reads the complaint letter.
