MARGAO: The 25-year-old youth Clint Rebello, who was allegedly assaulted by the Cuncolim policemen on November 25, on Thursday filed a police complaint against Cuncolim cops namely PSI Mahesh Velip, Upendra Upaskar, Sandeep Konkre, Gitesh Gaonkar and PC/driver Chandru Gaonkar.
Rebello, in his complaint at the Cuncolim Police Station, narrated the events that led to his assault at Assolna Police Outpost. He said “I was mercilessly beaten up by them (police officers) with a leather belt, slaps, blows and kicks resulting in serious injuries on my body”.
He stated that he was then taken to Cuncolim PS and was kept for hours and was ill-treated by PSI Mahesh Velip. Velip warned that a criminal case would be filed against him and he would be refrained from going abroad if he reported the issue.
At around 11 pm, while being taken to the Primary Health Centre in Balli for a medical examination, Rebello further stated that he was once again threatened by Velip not to report the assault to his superiors or anybody else.
