Vigilance complaint filed against Netravali P’yat

SANGUEM: A Netravali villager Amit Naik has lodged a complaint before the Vigilance Department Panjim against a contractor, panchayat body and Sanguem Block Development Officer for allegedly misappropriating and siphoning government funds in the name of pre-monsoon works which he claimed to have never been executed.
He alleged that the work pertains to the cleaning of bushes in all the seven wards of the panchayat area which were tendered in the last quarter of the current year.
Claiming to have photographic as well as video footage of the works being not carried out, Naik in his complaint has alleged that an amount of Rs 32, 8128 was withdrawn from the government treasury in the name of project work which are allegedly not been carried out as of date.
In his complaint, he further alleged that the contractor has claimed the aforesaid amount by bifurcating the same into labour charges amounting to Rs 10,4328, truck hire charges of Rs 48,300 and Rs 17,5500 towards bushes cleaning charges.
The complainant has also charged the panchayat for allocating the contract to the contractor despite there being a single contractor who applied for the project work which is totally against the prevailing laws.
Naik have therefore urged for immediate inquiry into the matter by summoning the officials for inquiry and investigation.
The panchayat authorities however denied the allegations cast on the panchayat by Naik and claim the same to be baseless as the bills of the contractor were cleared only after the completion of the project work.
