MARGAO: Accusing the Manohar Parrikar-led government of being pro-casino, Independent MLA Vijai Sardesai on Saturday has said the government is not only suffering from economic and intellectual bankruptcy, but moral bankruptcy as well.
Briefing the media, Sardesai charged the Chief Minister for repeatedly changing his stand on the Horseshoe. “Today, Parrikar says there’s no transfer of a licence, but only a change in licence. I have filed an RTI application to ascertain whether the CM is consistent with his statements on the floor of the House and outside”, he said, adding that he finds no difference between the previous Congress government and the present dispensation.
He wondered why the Sangh Parivar which had in the past taken pride in moral policing is silent with BJP leaders even talking of dance bars in the State. “This govt appears solidly behind the lobbies. The BJP had promised parivartan, but have only fooled the people with promises”, he said.
Meanwhile, he said that the Goans will not leave any politician scot free on the Mopa airport issue. “There are politicians who have changed their stance on Mopa with an eye on election. Goans will not get fooled by their change in stance”, he warned.
He said he has taken a backseat on the Mopa issue after the Goans for Dabolim Only led by Fr Eremito Rebello is pursuing the issue.
“I am firmly opposed to the airport at Mopa. Any government which pursues Mopa is anti-Goan”, he said.
