MARGAO: Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias has alleged that the TCP Minister Vijai Sardessai and former Cuncolim MLA Joaquim Alemao are indulging in theatrics to purposely delay the de-notification of the State Highway 8 passing through Chandor. The MLA has promised the people of Chandor that he would get the road tarred soon after the monsoon.
Addressing a press conference here, Dias said, “Joaquim has asked the TCP Minister not to de-notify the SH 8 road of Chandor till the time he tells him to do so. That is why when people came to my door complaining regarding the road condition and the SH status I advised them to go to Joaquim.”
Clafacio informed that the PWD minister told him that his department has not received any correspondence from the TCP on the de-notification of State Highway 8 passing through Chandor. If the TCP Minister was serious in de-notifying the state highway, Clafacio explained, he would have sent a correspondence to the PWD for the same; since the TCP minister was not serious about de-notifying the highway, he did not give any assurance to Chandor villagers when they visited him.
“This is a political game and it is to promote his son. I advise them not to indulge in theatrics or else you’ll go backward,” he warned.
He promised that he would get the road tarred by the end of the monsoon. “I will request the chief minister to tar the road. I am accused of not taking the demands of people seriously, so I need to prove that wrong,” Clafacio said.
An approximately two kilometer stretch of road is passing through Chandor and its dilapidated condition is the new political war turf in Cuncolim.
