Vijai appointed GFP chief

Plans to make CCTVs mandatory for multi-family dwellings

PANJIM: Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardesai said he would move an amendment to make CCTVs mandatory for all multi-family dwellings in the State.
On the background of the desecration of religious structures in South Goa, the minister said, “I’m talking of amending the Town and Country Planning Act to make it compulsory for multi-family dwellings to have CCTVs installed, because of this.”
Reposing confidence in the Goa Police he said that the police are following a lead and they have definite clues. “Any crime today is detected because of the cross section of the CCTVs. I’ve asked them to move a file and take it to the Home Department and the department should be doing it,” he stated.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday Goa Forward Party appointed Sardesai as the party’ President and appointed Housing Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar as the youth coordinator.
GFP Spokesperson Prashant Naik said, “We had appointed Dr Renuka D’Silva as the Party President. Now, she has been appointed the Chairman of SGPDA and also due to her professional commitments she asked us to relieve her of the President post. The executive committee has agreed to her request and after deliberation, the committee resolved to appoint Minister Vijai Sardesai as the President.”
Expressing the desire that those who espoused a pre-poll alliance with Congress and were let down should join GFP, Sardesai said, “I appeal to all those who fought for Goa’s issues, those who are not only with political lineage and are having independent thoughts should join Goa Forward.”
