MARGAO: Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardessai reiterated the need for automatic transfer to the local self governments of any open space within their jurisdiction. He said that a resolution was even adopted to this effect by the Goa Legislative Assembly.
He said most open spaces that are supposed to be gifted to the local body by developers when they develop any area are not transferred in the name of the local body because of the procedure involved.
“I am of the opinion that whenever any land development is approved, the open space should automatically be transferred to the local body,” he said adding that he had even moved a private member’s bill to this effect that was however objected to.
