Damu made his presence felt at Madel on Wednesday morning to take stock of the hot-mixing work on grounds that the work was initiated and tendered by him during his tenure in 2011. He took the opportunity to slam his rival, saying the development has suffered during the last three years on the development front. Damu dared Vijai to come out with a record book on the number of development projects executed in Fatorda in the last three years. “Holding a shigmo parade will not usher in development. Let the MLA come out with the list of works executed during the last three years”, Damu said, while issuing a warning to PWD officials not to arbitrarily change the scope of works tendered in 2011, saying unscrupulous officials will have to pay a price for illegal actions.
When media sought Vijai’s reaction to his claim over the hot-mixing works, the Fatorda MLA appealed to his rival not to politicise development, saying he has no problem if Damu is eager to take credit on the development front. “Even Chief Minister Parsekar says that Damu has not accepted that he stands defeated in the 2012 election. Damu needs to do introspection why he was defeated in Fatorda when people all over Goa had opted for a parivartan”, he said, while slamming the former MLA for pursuing negative politics and sabotaging development works.
