VASCO: Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai has lambasted the BJP-led State government and accused the BJP of betraying the Western India Shipyard Limited (WISL) workers by using them during all past elections but not supporting them when they are facing severe financial crises due to non-payment of salaries for the last 10 months.
Advising the aggrieved workers to continue their agitation, Sardesai claimed that if need arose he would not hesitate to destroy the offices of ministers at Goa secretariat.
He was addressing a public meeting jointly organised by Goa unit of Shiv Sena and WISL workers union, at Headland Sada on Wednesday evening. It was attended by leaders from political parties involving Goa Forward, Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, Aam Admi Party and Shiv Sena.
The political leaders present at the meeting also assured their full support to the WISL workers.
“We are here to support the people and to fight against the injustice done to the 350-odd families that are facing severe financial crises. As rightly said by a youth leader in Delhi, we all want freedom, not from India, but in India. The government in Goa has betrayed the poor workers; we now assure that we will take up their cause before the forthcoming assembly session,” Sardesai said.
The NCP state president Jose Philip D’Souza said that “It is bad luck for Goans that people got a government which only knows to lie to the people and are also experts in using people only as vote bank, but never knows how to help them during their difficult times.”
– as being done to with WISL workers. We will not allow this to happen and would jointly retaliate until these get justice and their rights”.
