MARGAO: Additional Sessions Judge Saynora Teles Laad on Thursday adjourned the case against Vikat Bhagat to January 4 as the Public Prosecutor was not present in the court.
Defence Lawyer Arun Bras de Sa was supposed to present his arguments before charge. The defence has reportedly given its say on the intervener application filed on behalf of the deceased Danielle McLaughin’s mother Andrea Brannigan by Advocate Vikram Verma to assist the prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Defence has given no objection to the application filed by Vikat’s father Surendra Bhagat through his power of attorney seeking release of his scooter attached by the police as evidence since it was used by the accused.
However, Public Prosecutor V G Costa has objected to the application claiming that the scooter is an important piece of evidence and further arguing that there are traces of evidence on the scooter which may be destroyed if it is released.
