PONDA: The villagers of Nirankal-Dabal are facing severe disruption to their day-to-day activities as the road connecting the two villages remains submerged for the past four days due to flooding of the Undai river. This flooding has caused the loss of contact between the two villages, impacting the residents who heavily depend on each other.
The locals are voicing their concern and urging authorities to find a lasting solution to the recurring problem. Demands for an elevated road or other viable alternatives have been raised, with villagers urging the conduct of a survey in the affected area.
While there was temporary relief when the water level receded once there is decrease in rainfall, the area continues to experience frequent flooding. The situation has resulted in significant difficulties for the villagers’ daily lives, including hindrances for students attending educational institutions and accessing schools and markets in both Ponda and Dharbandora talukas. With the road submerged up to one meter in height, students have been forced to stay home or take longer routes through Dharbandora to reach Ponda.
Residents of Pena Mal, Mattidaad Taribhat, and other areas are also heavily affected, as their day-to-day routines are disrupted due to the road submergence. Even those working in industries in Bethora have been hit hard, as transportation has been severely impacted by the flooded road.
The situation calls for immediate attention and effective action from the authorities. The villagers at Nirankal-Dabal are urging for lasting solutions that will prevent such recurring issues and ensure smooth connectivity between the two villages, enabling residents to resume their daily activities without interruption.
