Villagers Protest Outside TCP Office in Panjim, Demand Scrapping of Proposed Coal Jetty

Residents from Assolda, Xelvona, Xic-Xelvona and Hodar, along with people from the Curchorem constituency, gathered outside the Town and Country Planning (TCP) office at Patto in Panjim on Monday, demanding that the proposed coal jetty project be scrapped.

The protesters assembled in large numbers and voiced strong opposition to the project, expressing concerns over its potential environmental and social impact. They urged authorities to withdraw the proposal and take into account the sentiments of local communities.

Raising slogans and submitting their objections, the demonstrators called upon the concerned department to immediately halt any further steps related to the coal jetty. The protest remained peaceful, even as participants warned that they would intensify their agitation if their demands are not addressed.
