Villagers unite at Narvem against cremation ground demolition

Residents from Akhada, Murdi, Vanxim, Vanjua, Ribandar, Old Goa and Divar gathered at Narvem to oppose the alleged demolition of the centuries-old Kaloba Smashanbhumi. Protesters expressed concern over the potential loss of heritage and religious significance attached to the cremation ground. Former Akhada ward panch Rohidas Narvekar, along with Sarvesh Halarnkar from Divar and Surendra Volvokar, addressed the media and urged authorities to protect the historic site and respect local sentiments. The gathering remained peaceful but firm, with locals demanding clarity and immediate intervention from the concerned departments.
