Vinod Naik of Madkai won the first prize at the All Goa Sixth Abhang Singing competition organized in memory of bhajan singer Late Jagannath Shet at Manguesh Maharudra Sabhagriha, Cortalim, recently.
Sanjay Chari of Chimbel and Sunil Naik won the second and third prize respectively. Rajendra Nail (Agapur) and Prahlad Gauns (Nanora) won the consolation prizes while the special prize went to Tanvi S Alparkar.
The function was organised by Late Jagannath Shet Kala Saunstha, Cortalim.
Earlier, Kamlakant Walwaikar inaugurated the competition, while Sancoale Panch Bhoj Naik presided over the function. Vasant Rao Kadnekar was the chief guest while Sandip Raikar and Gunaji Fadte were the guests of honour.
Kadnekar appreciated the organizers for giving an opportunity to bhajan and abhang artistes to showcase their talents and appealed to the participants to take proper guidance from their gurus before participating in the competitions.
Walwaikar and Bhoj Naik also spoke on the occasion. Saunstha President Sunil Shet, Ratnakar Shet, Ramesh Shet, Shrikant Shet, Umesh Tari and Balaji Naik were also present on the occasion.
Sumayana Shet compered the function while Umesh Tari introduced the guests.
Altogether 24 contestants participated in the competition.
