CURCHOREM: Vishwas Pandu Sawant was elected unopposed as chairperson and Pradnya Naik as vice-chairperson of the Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) on Thursday. Quepem Deputy Collector Shankar Gaonkar also administered the oath to the 14 new councillors. Eight councillors were administered the oath in English, four councillors in Konkani and two councillors in Marathi.
Addressing the press, Chairperson Sawant said that he would take all the councillors into confidence while planning the development of Curchorem-Cacora. He urged the stakeholders to pay their taxes to generate revenue for the council, which could then provide basic necessities to the citizens.
MLA Nilesh Cabral congratulated them and assured his cooperation. He also urged them to cooperate with the government and CCMC chief officer.
