VMC failed to carry out works in our ward: Velus locals

VALPOI: The residents of Velus have accused the Valpoi Municipal Council (VMC) of completely failing to carry out development works in their Ward No 1. 

They further claimed that the developments works in the ward have remained incomplete including the Ganpathi Visarjan shade, the footpath and chavata shade.

The residents alleged that for the past three decades till date the development work in the ward has remained incomplete and low quality material has been used.

“In October this year, VMC commenced the chavata shade construction work below Rs 5 lakh and the work has not been completed as yet. Due to this we cannot celebrate the religious functions,” the residents complained.

“We visited the contractor’s house in our ward, but on the contrary he threatened us saying that he will not complete the shade work,” claimed Amresh Gaonkar, a resident.

“We demand that the government take strict action against the contractor and cancel his licence,” the locals demanded.
