Vocational teachers with over 5 years to be regularized: CM

PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Tuesday announced that vocational teachers, who have completed five years contract period, would be regularized.

Replying to the cut motions on demand for Education, Parsekar said his government understands that the issue of vocational training has been pending and hence has taken a decision. “All over the country vocational education is on temporary basis,” he said.
“On humanitarian grounds, this government has decided that those vocational contract teachers, who have completed five years will be regularized and will get the scale of regular teachers,” he said.
Parsekar also said the government has decided to increase salaries of part-time and double part-time teachers in vocational streams.
“A part-time teacher who is presently earning Rs 5000 will get Rs 8000 per month while the double part-time teacher will get Rs 15,000 per month, which is presently Rs 10,000,” he said.
Similarly, he said, the government is moving forward in improving manpower and infrastructure from the primary level to the University level.
“The government has improved infrastructure as per the requirement even in aided schools,” he said. He added, “We have sanctioned staff right from primary to university level, high schools and colleges as per demands.”
On the infrastructure front, he said, the government in the last three years has upgraded 202 primary schools, built five new high schools and five new primary schools.
“As part of Swacch vidhayala campaign we gave funds for construction of separate toilets and not only that we will give grants to the schools for appointment of wet sweeper for maintenance,” he said.
He announced that maintenance grant of Bal Rath vehicles which is presently Rs 3 lakh will be increased to Rs 3.5 lakh.
He said the government understands that with the rising costs of diesel, tyres and other maintenance it is not enough and hence the amount has been increased by Rs 50,000.
He, however, ruled out the regularization of the driver and cleaner appointed on the Bal Rath buses.
“These were meant to be the part-time jobs for the youth but now they are asking for regularization, which cannot be done,” he said.
