With a fortnight to go for the new fishing season to begin, Fisheries Minister Joaquim Alemao has warned that the government would seize boats found violating the fishing ban.
Asking the stake holders to maintain discipline, Alemao said the government has allotted time for the mechanized fishing vessels and the traditional fishermen for fishing. “This time, we will maintain a strict vigil along the coast. Any vessel found violating the ban would be seized and fined,” he warned.
Last year, the government deployed police at certain landing points along the coastline to enforce the fishing ban.
