MARGAO: Saying that many secular minded people may be thinking of joining the party, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Nilkanth Halarnkar on Tuesday said that he cannot comment on whether MLA Vishu Surya Wagh will be the party candidate for the North Goa seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
He, however, made it clear that the NCP will field its own candidate instead of importing candidates from other parties at the time of election.

When media persons asked the NCP Goa unit chief whether MLA Wagh will be the party candidate for the North Goa seat, he replied saying that Wagh has been in the literary field and is a known figure in the literary field in Pune, Kolhapur and Maharashtra. “He might be in contact with our people given his interest in the literary field, but there is nothing so far that he would contest the Lok Sabha polls on the NCP ticket”, he added.
Halarnkar, however, maintained that many secular minded people are planning to join the NCP given the party’s secular outlook and its ability to take various sections of the society together.
