PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is likely to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Wednesday, June 12, with an all party delegation with a two point agenda — a financial package for those affected by mining ban and special status for Goa.
Earlier, reacting to the resignation of Advani, Parrikar had called him “a role model.”
According to the chief minister’s office, the PMO has given an appointment for Wednesday. The Goa delegation would include Ministers Alina Saldanha, Avertano Furtado, MGP’s Ramakrishna Dhavalikar and Mahadev Naik, BJP MLAs – Pramod Sawant, Subhash Faldesai and Kiran Kandolkar, Goa Vikas Party legislator Fransisco Miccky Pacheco and independent legislator Rohan Khaunte besides Congress party’s Francisco Sardinha.
Meanwhile, Parrikar today claimed that L K Advani has been his role model and he personally felt that Advani should continue giving his blessings and guide to the party even if the NDA wins. “My role model is Advaniji for integrity and uprightness,” Parrikar said.
Parrikar also railed at the media for trying to put him against the senior BJP leader by twisting his statements.
“When I made a statement about retirement age of politicians, my statement was twisted,” he claimed.
Parrikar and Advani have been literally at loggerheads over the “rancid pickle,” remark and this one that politician should retire once they touch 65 years.
“My comments (about retirement) were in general. I meant to say that a person who is in public life should think of his health when he is 65,” he tried to explain.
