PONDA: Criticising his own government for its alleged failure to implement 27 per cent OBC reservation in education and government jobs, St Andre MLA Vishnu Wagh on Sunday warned that the Gomantak Bhandari Samaj (GBS) will agitate if this is not implemented by March 31, 2014.
Wagh was addressing a function organised to felicitate meritorious students.
“The leaders from the Bahujan Samaj have been sidelined including our leader, North Goa MP Shripad Naik. It is because of Shripad Naik today that BJP is in such a position in the State,” claimed Wagh.
North Goa MP Naik also requested the State government not to test public patience and said there is even a nod from the Supreme Court for 27 per cent reservation.
“From 19.5 per cent, the reservation was taken to 27 per cent and there is consent to it from the Supreme Court. So I don’t understand why there has been delay,” said Naik.
Meanwhile, at another function at Canacona, Wagh flayed a few leaders for reportedly favouring dance bars in the State by saying that dance bar culture is not required for development of the State.
Wagh was speaking at a function organized to release music CD ‘Shivshankara Shri Mallikarjuna’ brought out by Dr Praveen Naik Gaunkar in association with Ishraj Creations, Mumbai, at Shri Mallikarjun Devasthan, Shristhal-Canacona.
Bollywood actor Nana Patekar said, “Living is not just eat, drink and sleep, but living in villages gives people a chance to live in harmony with nature.”
