VASCO: A waiter at D’Costa restaurant in IDC Verna was murdered by his colleague over personal issues on Monday.
According to Verna police, the deceased Shiva Bhakti and the accused Deva Biswas Kranti (23), who was a cook, worked and stayed at the same restaurant. However, they were not on good terms with each other. They were seen abusing each other almost daily. The deceased had once left the job due to the arguments, but had rejoined recently.
Shortly before the incident, they had returned to the restaurant after visiting a bar. Police said, “Like any other day, they started to quarrel about some personal issues. In a fit of rage, Kranti pushed Shiva to the ground, lifted an empty gas cylinder, and hit Shiva’s head with it until the face was completely smashed. After that, Kranti tried to get rid of the evidence by cleaning the pool of blood on the restaurant floor. He later dragged the body outside and threw it 20 meters away from the restaurant. He then went back to sleep.”
They continued, “When the morning-shift cook Motilal Pandey came to work at around 4 am, he could not see anything as it was dark. After preparing samosas for over an hour, he came outside to get milk and was surprised to see bloodstains on the restaurant floor. He questioned Kranti, who confessed to killing Shiva. Kranti requested him not to inform police, but Pandey refused and informed the restaurant’s owner, who then informed Verna police. Kranti fled the scene after anticipating trouble. He was later apprehended by the highway patrol police.”
Verna police registered the case under section 302 and 201 of IPC. Further investigations are on.
