MARGAO: Margao Municipal Council, in collaboration with Saxtti Riders, Inner Wheel Club of Margao and Rotary Club of Margao organized a cycle trek and a walkathon through the streets of Margao to mark Gandhi Jayanti on Monday and send a message of saying ‘NO’ to plastic.
Around 40 cyclists pedaled their way to Lohia Maidan at Margao from Bolshe Circle carrying banners and posters and advising people to use their own shopping bags to reduce the use of plastic.
A large crowd including youngsters walked around the streets of Margao starting from the Municipal building. They shouted slogans calling for ‘Green Goa and Clean Goa’ and also to reduce the use of plastic.
MMC Chairperson Babita Prabhudessai expressed happiness over the turn out and thanked the councillors for their efforts.
